Here it comes again. New Year resolution time. Yay…..? Look, I love a good goal setting session. I think giving yourself something to strive towards is one of the most important aspects of becoming the person you long to be. But when it comes to New Year resolutions, I think a lot of us get it wrong. Mostly because we set extreme goals and then fall off the wagon two weeks in leaving you feeling worse than when you started. So, how do you set resolutions that don’t suck? Let’s dive in.
Set REAL resolutions

Girl, get pumped. You need to be so excited about your resolution that when day 16 rolls around and you just want to hit snooze and eat Doritos in bed, your excitement takes over and rips the covers off. The best way to amp up the excitement is to create a resolution with the end goal in mind. Forget the immediate results of whatever you’re trying to do. Your resolution needs to have actionable steps that you can take towards progress. I know, I just told you to think about the long-term end goal, but if you don’t give yourself the
The best resolutions are the ones that help to change your life by changing your habits. Whatever your resolution is, make it something that you intend on sticking to for the long run. Make it about you and your happiness. You deserve to live the best life and New Year resolutions are the perfect excuse to start cutting out the bad and keeping all the good. I’m not just talking about junk food here. I’m talking anything that doesn’t serve you. Let it go.
Resolutions are more than weight loss goals (I used that example because it’s so common). They are the opportunity to shift your outlook and focus with less judgement from those around you. Hear me out. Use your resolution as the clap back you need to justify treating yourself better. Cut out the toxic with ruthless abandon. Everything from food to people, if they are bad for you, cut them. Sometimes we just need to feel like we have been given permission to put ourselves first. Here it is. You are allowed to cut out all the drama because you deserve better.
Now, go back to the top of this list and set a real resolution. Resolve to live your best life. Start finding the joy in each and every day. Be happy.
